Restylane® and Captique® are both hyaluronic acid based dermal fillers. They are among the most widely used dermal fillers available.

These cosmetic dermal fillers are made of Stabilized Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid gel (NASHA).  Hyaluronic acid is naturally exists in human body, one of its important functions is to carry and bind water.  The NASHA gel is crystal-clear and biodegradable. The gel is injected into the skin in tiny amounts with a very fine needle.  The injection restores volume and fullness to the skin to correct facial wrinkles and folds. The result is instantaneous and produces a natural enhancement, gentle and safe to your skin.

What are the uses for Restylane® or Captique®?

They can be used to smooth the laugh lines or nasolabial folds, lines at the corners of the mouth, vertical lines on the lip, lines between the eyebrows.  Some depressed scar, like acne scar can also be injected to minimize its appearance.  Lip augmentation and definition can also be achieved with these fillers, as well as other facial contouring and enhancement.

How long does the result from Restylane® or Captique® last?

Average results from these fillers will last 4-6 months.  Typically, twice a year injections with Restylane® or Captique® will give you the sustained smooth, youthful appearance.  Occasional minor touch-ups in between have been shown to enhance the results.

Are Restylane ® and Captique ® safe?

Hyaluronic acid (HA) based dermal fillers have been used since 1996 and millions treatments have been carried out worldwide with these fillers safely and successfully.  Since HA is a fully biocompatible chemical, no skin test is required.

How is Restylane ® or Captique ® administered?

Restylane® or Captique® is injected with very fine needle (usually 30 gauge) right under the skin in very small amount.  The injections are made directly towards the skin defects to smooth the wrinkles and folds and to restore volume.  It is best to avoid any aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medications for several days before the procedure.

Is injection of Restylane® or Captique® painful?

This injection is carried out under local anesthesia depending on the area of treatment.  Use of local anesthetic techniques ranging from anesthetic cream to local nerve block will ensure the comfort of the procedure.  It is typically well tolerated with minimal discomfort.  There is no pain reported afterwards.

What are the potential side effects of Restylane® or Captique®?

Like any other injections, Restylane® or Captique® injection can cause bleeding, swelling and bruising.  But because the small size needle and tiny amount of injection used, these potential problems are usually minimal and very short-lived.
